National Geological and Geophysical Data Preservation Program

2018 Request for Proposals for Department of the Interior Preservation Activities

Proposals are being accepted by the National Geological and Geophysical Data Preservation Program (NGGDPP) for U.S. Department of the Interior (DOI) data and collection preservation activities. The NGGDPP is legislatively authorized to make funds available to DOI participants for activities focusing on preservation of geoscience materials, including physical conservation, digital cataloging, and data dissemination to enhance discovery and use of DOI resources.

Program Priorities

The NGGDPP priorities require participants to 1) preserve geoscience materials, 2) describe the preserved materials and data in conformance with NGGDPP metadata schema, and 3) submit the metadata records to the National Digital Catalog of archived and preserved materials and data. Components of the National Digital Catalog include metadata describing 1) geological and geophysical data collections and 2) individual items in those collections.
