Long-Range Data Preservation Plan

Constructing a long-range data preservation plan may aid organizations define the scope of their physical collections; determine priorities for organizing, managing, and preserving materials; and provide succession planning. In the grant process, the National Geological and Geophysical Data Preservation Program Panel considers applicants’ long-range data preservation planning activies. While states are not required to submit their Long-Range Data Preservation Plans to the USGS, they must explain how their proposed activities address their long-range plans. A suggested format for such plans is included here. Access Long-Range Data Preservation Plan
